Our drive is in full swing! We did another lesson today about Social Justice and how everyone has the right to clothing, shelter, food, and to a home. We made our helping hands to show how we can help! . If you can please send in an item to help us collect more items!
Please label all of your child's winter wear. We have many people who have the same coats, gloves, snowpants etc. They are also 5 or 6 and don't always remember what they are wearing. It would help tremendously if you put their name on all items. THANK you SO SO much!
I need your help! We are having some trouble with kids not going to the bathroom and coming right back. They are playing, being loud, looking under stalls, and sitting on the sink at times. I have worked with my friends on appropriate bathroom behavior and how we go and come right back. I have had other adults come and talk to some of the kids not following the rules. We want the bathroom to be safe for everyone. They should not wait for friends to finish. It is important for them to come right back to the room so others can go. The girls are having more issues than the boys. However, I think it is good for us to remind all of the kiddos. Thank you for talking to your child about approrpriate bathroom behavior.

Please help us support our community by sending in coats, hats, gloves, scarves, etc for those who do not have them. We are studying Social Justice and how everyone has the right to be warm this winter. OPE kids are helping to collect these items this week and next to show how we care for others.
Students can bring $1.00 next week and participate in our crazy week of fun at OPE! Monday is crazy hat day, Tuesday is crazy hair day, and Wednesday is PJ Day! All of the money collected will help buy more winter wear for our collection.
All it takes to help someone is one love, one heart, and one hand. We can make a difference by helping others. This week and next at OPE we are celebrating Diversity Week. We will be teaching the children about Social Justice and how everyone has the right to be treated fairly. Our focus is that every child has a right to be warm this winter. OPE will be collecting coats, hats, mittens, gloves, scarves and snow pants for those who do not have any. We will creat a world of HELPING HANDS here at OPE!

Please make sure your child has a warm coat, hat, gloves, scarf, boots, and snow pants for school. It is VERY cold and we got out EVERYDAY unless it is BELOW ZERO. If they do not wear these items to school please put them in a plastic bag with their name labeled so they can hang it on their hook for recess and BLOCK time. I don't encourage hat sharing because of the lice situation, but will let them get gloves or snow pants from lost and found if needed. ALso, if your child is not independent at zipping and getting winter clothing on please practice at home. THANK YOU in advance for your help this winter season.
